AnDrew19787's News

Hi everyone!

Casting for Dareva's Last Will OCT Part 5 is now over and all parts are filled. Thanks to everyone who sent voices in, I received a number of good voices (especially for Warxend) of which unfortunately they didn't but were pretty close to getting the part they were after.

Once I wrap up the rest of the (main) voice parts I will get started. Stay tuned! (Plus I bought a new mic!)

================================================

Lately I've been having trouble uploading art to NG. The specific problem is that the part where you have to crop your image doesn't show up, as if the image is still uploading. I'm sure I've followed the rules and I kept the dimensions and file size to reasonable amounts, and even experimented with different artworks.

My only theory is that since I've enabled API this might be the cause of the problem, but how does that affect cropping an image?

If anyone knows what's wrong (since the Wiki or Forums don't have anything) please let me know.

And here's a cast sheet for this animation (soo many characters x-x) in my newly updated drawing style.
(This image doesn't have a problem uploading! D:? )

DLW5 Auditions Closed! + Art submission problems

Posted by AnDrew19787 - April 10th, 2012

Hey guys! I'm currently open for voice auditions for new characters in DLW5.

There are about 4 female roles and 1 male role open and they are about 2-3 lines each (not as much dialogue this ep).

Here are the lines:

Character:
WARXEND (male)
"Are we too late for the party?"
"Let's do this!"
(+any grunts and yells for fighting)

Unless this contradicts with the personality, I imagine him saying this with a confident, partly cocky, partly heroic(?) voice. Imagine as if he (and everyone around him) has come to save the day! (Mid-lower range pitch)

IDINA (female):
"Those bastards are gonna get it now! Time for some epic payback!"
(+any grunts and yells for fighting)

Unless this contradicts with the personality, I also imagine her saying this with a confident attitude. Perhaps a little rough around the edges too. (Mid-range pitch)

YUME (female):
"Yeah! Shame on them for attacking us from behind!"
(+any grunts and yells for fighting)

Unless this contradicts with the personality, I imagined her saying this with a younger and higher-pitched voice. Not as confident as the others but fairly confident. (Higher range pitch)

BLANKORA (female):
"Welcome humans, say hello to my army!"
+Evil laughs
"What? No!"
+Any grunts of frustration
"HOW DARE YOU!"
+any additional grunts and yells

Unless this contradicts with the personality, I imagine her speaking with a commanding voice. She's a powerful being, so make her sound powerful! (Mid-lower range pitch)

LYDIA (female):
The only thing you hear from her is what I call a "rage scream." A "rage scream" is the sound you make when you are so angry, you scream (hence the name XD). It also has some pain behind the scream, as if something tormented her enough to actually produce sound (whoever knows what it is, don't tell).
Consider this "line" as one of the most epic scenes in the animation, and even in any of ALL my animations. LyDia has never produced sound before, so when she does it is definitely important. I don't want any high-pitched horror screams or anything like that, and perhaps the scream sounds deformed because her vocal chords are new at working.
(Mid-higher range pitch)
*NOTE: THE VOICE ACTOR IS NOT GUARANTEED TO PLAY AS LYDIA IN OTHER ANIMATIONS, ESPECIALLY WHEN SHE WILL TALK IN THEM

For more detailed info, go to this link that will take you to my deviantART journal.

Send your lines as high quality mp3s to andrew19787@gmail.com
Don't add any effects, I will do that myself if need be.
Also, if you can compress the line(s) in a folder labelled with your username and/or real name that would be great.
I will give everyone from two weeks to a month from now, depending on how many voices I will get.

Good luck to all!

Voice Casting for DLW5!

Hi everyone, sorry for lack of activity.

Wanted everyone to know that the next episode of OCT is almost finished; its been taking so long because I got a new job around the same time I started working on the animation.

The release date is supposed to be March 31st. That aside, work has been unpredictable lately so there's a chance it may be up to a week late.

Also, the title of the series is being changed. The reason is that "Original Character Tournament" is a pretty generic title, as there are many different OCTs around on the internet. The new title is called Dareva's Last Will OCT as that is the actual name of the tournament. Unfortunately, I don't think I'm able to change the title of each Newgrounds submission I've already made with the new NG design, but I'll at least change the file of each episode so that the title will be accurate.

I'm also working out the ad stuff for the first time so that will take some time.

This episode sets the stage for the final round so there won't be a lot of fighting in it this time, but the quality of the animation still seems to continue its improvement! DLW5 will be even more awesome judging by what I have planned for it. An epilogue after will be made, but I'm still deciding if it should be animated or a comic like my prologue (found in DLW1).

Release date for OCT4! (Now DLW4)

It's about time for some news regarding this series.

I'm now working at a full-time job so I'm not able to work on the next episode as often as I'd like. The host of the tournament understands that as well, and since no one else has actually submitted their next entries either, the deadline has been extended to December (let's just see who actually submits something).

Right now I'm only about 30% finished so far. I may not even be finished completely by the new deadline, but I'll try.

Another thing, this isn't the last episode. There will be one more after this one, and its going to be my epic finale because I want to end this series soon and work on original stuff. In my last post, I said I might do an epilogue as well and that still stands. The epilogue would be really short though, probably as long as OCT1.

I might change the name of this series as well since its not exactly an original title, but we'll see.

We'll see for everything. Just sit tight!

Here's a screenshot to tide you over! (See if you can guess what's happening)

November Update to OCT

Posted by AnDrew19787 - August 8th, 2011

Just wanted to say that I officially won Round 2 and now I can start working on Round 3, which is also the FINAL ROUND. Round 2 only had 4 entries submitted out of 6, and my opponent and I were the only couple contestants who submitted something on time. So in other words my opponent and I were the only ones being judged. XD

Deadline for the round is November 3rd. In this final round, anything could actually happen. Instead of a 3-way battle, I could have my characters fight monsters that have been introduced by the host. For another, I could include previous "losers" (for lack of better word) like Libra.

So basically this may be the last animation in this little series I have. I might do an epilogue animation to wrap things up, but for now I'm just focused on this round.

Later!

I've got some people who are rather confused at the story I have so far so let me clear some things up.

Characters:
Drew (the guy with the green and brown shirt who appears in every animation)
Much of his character remains a mystery on purpose. I have an original series planned that is about the "origins" of his "powers" and whatever else is mysterious about him. He has a laptop and a few miscellaneous objects with him, but what he does with them is not important. He is not the star of this series, even though he seems to be. I reveal exactly what I want to reveal about him.

LyDia (the blue-haired girl who tags along with Drew and fights every round)
I've said before that she is an undeveloped character. That is what she is even in the story, which explains her "leveling up" in every round and why she has no voice. Her specialty is magic circles:
Red = Offensive type
Blue = Defensive type
Green = Portals
White = Healing type
There are more that may be added in each episode.

Libra (First round opponent; oranged-haired British guy)
More about him found here.

Raenn (Second round opponent; grey-haired, half dragonkin/half elvish girl.
More about her found here.

Sarah (dark haired elvish girl with armor(?))
She was Raenn's opponent in Round 1 but she lost without a fight. She decided to accompany Raenn for the rest of her time in the tournament.
There's not much more to her than that. The creator hasn't put a character description anywhere I could see.

Obviously Libra, Raenn, and Sarah are not my characters so I can't provide in-depth detail and backstories of them.

Story
"A Gentleman arrives to a world, a floating isle which city is desert he waits until night in hope of finding someone or something, At the night, he finds in the highest building/tower of the city a Light, so he decides to go to there...
At the last floor of the Building a beautiful lady sits over the floor an empty room looking at the shadows of what used to be her home place though the glass walls of the last floor
-"Hello Madam" The gentleman said
She surprised and looked at him, wondering who he was, and what he was doing there... so she asked and the Gentleman replied "I'm a worlds traveler,I go from world to world looking for adventures, but this place looks quite desertic and dead"
The Spirit then looked back to the city and replied "Demons corrupted the hearts of its people, They started to kill between them until all of them where gone... I'm the only one left, but I have nowhere to go, nothing to do"
A moment of silence took place and then the girl continued
"I was the guardian spirit of this city, But without a city to protect, I have nothing to do anymore, I could use my power to grant you a wish"
"A wish?!" Asked surprised the Gentleman, then continued "Can it be anything?, Money?, Power?, Eternal Life? Recover a lost being?..."
"I Think I can use all my power and existence to try to accomplish that wish... most of what you asked would be easy to me though..."
But the Gentleman had no wish at all, something that disappointed the spirit... her existence wasn't looking like coming to an end
"Don't be sad, I'll help you to find an appropriate person to use your power, That might be resolved with a Tournament my dear friend" Replied The Gentleman, then he wrote something in some papers he had with him, he put a weird seal in all of them, trowed them though the windows and one by one those papers started to flash and then disappear.
The spirit looked intrigued for see what does the Gentleman just did
He sent invitations to different worlds near an appropriate candidate or someone who knows a friend who would need that wish, the paper would open a portal that would send people to the empty city, to give it it's last party..."

The host also wrote a journal entry about the Tournament itself which includes the above story.
Then he wrote a journal entry for Round 1 about who's battling who and everyone's entries. The one for Round 2 is the same.

You can read the host's entire story right here, which includes the introduction as a comic, his version of Rounds 1 and 2, and some extra stuff.

I know there's a lot to look at but at least its there. Don't complain to me about something I've already explained here.

If you have any questions or if there are any unanswered above, comment here and I will try to update it as much as I can.

And now here's a picture of Drew and LyDia :3

OCT series FAQ

Posted by AnDrew19787 - June 13th, 2011

Hey guys, just so I'm not completely inactive on this site I'll talk about some things that are going on.

The next episode of this OCT I'm in is in progress. People may have noticed that the previous one was a little too anime cliched, however some of it wasn't exactly my fault. My opponent's attacks had too much of those cliches alone but I tried to dim them down as best as I could without spoiling the characters.

Some of you have also pointed out that my mute girl character shouldn't be mute, well she's mute for a reason. She plays as an OC, in the animation. An undeveloped OC I might add. She doesn't have a voice actress yet, and she's staying that way in this story. She is actually a character from my main anime story that I'm still working on (the "renewed" version of The Awakened, even though its completely different now). She WILL have a voice actress in that story, but for now she'll just remain quiet. After all, a quiet character can be interesting too.

Anyways, here is a WIP of OCT 3. No backgrounds just yet, but at least its something. Also, the deadline for this animation is supposed to be in mid-July, but we'll see what happens.

Small Update

Posted by AnDrew19787 - March 13th, 2011

Hey guys,

For my next animation my characters are up against another person's character in a fight.

According to what this person told me, this character is a guy with a British accent. He has a medium-low range and is able to sound good and evil (at different times).

Sample lines:
"So.....you are my opponents."
"It's for the best. This way I won't have the guilt of directly killing a girl."
"Eternal Dance of Heaven..........Lightning Down!"

If anyone thinks they can fit this part, send me your .mp3 file(s) high quality at birdbrain@shaw.ca

Dundundunnnn~

After wasting away my life I am now becoming more active! Okay seriously, I've been practicing a bunch of things from drawing to Flash to 3D stuff. It's been hard but now I can say I have some skill! Woot.

Anyways. some well-needed updates.
First, the series I have mentioned and attempted a long while ago has not been forgotten. I just set it aside because I know I wasn't ready for it to be released. The story has been reworked -- its still being reworked -- and trying to improve myself in animation before I will meet up to it's standards. So now, I've decided to work on another drawing style, one that I can feel more comfortable with both in drawing AND animating. And that's exactly what I've been doing. I'm gonna be trying to do some animation shorts to get the ball rolling, but I can say that I'm satisfied with how much better I've gotten (despite what anyone else thinks).

Second, I've graduated from a Visual Effects school so now I have some decent experience in the 3D side of things, plus I can get a decent job from it.....but I haven't yet. :(

Third........doesn't exist. Oh wait it does. Continuing from First, a series idea has appeared with my new drawing style, but its just an idea. Not much else has come from it. It's supposed to be based on a really old comic I made that only exists on paper and never shared with anyone. So yeah. Yay.

I'm going to try to be more active on this account. Maybe submit some stuff. Some better stuff, knowing how crappy my old stuff was.

Later!

Been a while since I've said anything. VFX school has kept me busy this past year and I'm close to graduating and looking for a job. Animation-wise, I've learned a lot in the 3D department (but I'm still learning Flash).

As for my series, its pretty much cancelled; not on hiatus. However, I'm restarting it with a brand new concept but retains my main themes like the elements and a post-apocalyptic world, and my characters. The Awakened's concept was something I didn't like and it felt like I was dragging myself from the start, so I've created someting new in my head that I can keep thinking about without losing my excitement (I hope). When I feel I'm ready and all planned I will start up the series again, but only when I feel its ready.

This is one idea I don't plan to mess up on...
